The sermon or homily is an integral part of Anglican worship. It is the application of the word of God to the pastoral needs of a particular community at a particular time and place. It is appropriate, therefore, that there be some reflection on the word of God at every service, even at weekday celebrations and at early Sunday morning services of Holy Eucharist, so that the good news of the gospel can be heard and responded to in a living way by the congregation.
