The Reverend Tara Livingston - Rector
Tara is the proud mama to two teenage boys. She lives in Shawnessy with Wesley, Tyler and the beloved Sarah (a rescue dog from Mexico). Tara spends her off hours being a hockey mom, a band mom, hosting Dungeons & Dragons marathons, delighting in “movie nights” and spending time with her friends. She enjoys reading, hiking, cycling, camping and will find any excuse to travel further into the majesty of the Rockies!
Tara graduated from Trinity College, University of Toronto with a Masters in Divinity in 2006. Her education focussed on liturgy and pastoral theology. She is a counselor specializing in families and couples using a Person Centred approach. As one of her extended ministries she coordinates the Calgary Deaneries Marriage Preparation program and leads 2 – 3 weekends per year preparing engaged couples for the years after the wedding. She is also a member of “Abraham’s Tent”, a gathering of Christians, Jews and Muslims who endeavour to find common theological ground and to be leaders in inter-faith relations. For the past almost 4 years she has been the Associate Priest at Christ Church, Calgary.
Tara was ordained in 2007 and has been in professional ministry since 2002. She is an exceptional preacher, pastoral presence, teacher and group facilitator and especially enjoys meeting people wherever they are theologically and journeying with them. There is nothing more joyful than inviting people to express their doubts or fears and then finding a way to live at once in uncertainty and faith.
Tara believes in the sentiment, who would Jesus not have to dinner? The doors of the Church should be flung wide open and the people who enter should be welcome without judgement or shame. Bring your doubt, your uncertainty, your brokenness and your hurt; bring your joy and your celebration. Bring it all - because after all, who would Jesus not have to dinner?
So, come. You will be welcome.
