Worship at Holy Nativity is gathering as a Christian community to worship God. In the Anglican Church the principal service is the Holy Eucharist / Holy Communion / The Lord’s Supper. In our Baptismal Liturgy, we are challenged to continue in the Apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of the bread and in the prayers. With that in mind, at least weekly, we are each called to gather and share this sacred meal which Jesus has given us.
In our worship each Sunday, we hear through the reading of our Sacred Scriptures, how God calls us, brings us to be reconciled, nourishes us and sends us out from worship to love and serve the people we encounter. Our mission statement – ‘to be God’s people, demonstrating God’s love’ is a constant reminder to us of our call to Christian service.
Anglican Worship services are participatory. All who join us in worship are encouraged to take their part. Our hope is that the Sunday morning gathering for worship, shapes us for lives of service the rest of the week.
Sometimes, newcomers to Anglican Worship find things a bit confusing. We will do our best through handouts, overheads and verbal cues, to keep you on track and engaged in liturgical worship.
Sometimes, newcomers wonder about when to sit, stand or kneel. Practices vary but the general rule is we stand to sing, to affirm our faith, and for the reading of the Gospel.
We sit for the Old Testament Reading, the Psalm Reading and the New Testament Reading.
We sit during the Sermon, also called a Homily, and for any special music a choir might sing.
We stand or kneel for those times when we pray to God.
All persons who have been baptized and who believe in the Lord are welcome to receive communion. If you or your children are not baptised, you may receive a blessing at the Altar Rail during communion.
If you are interested in Baptism, it would be our pleasure to meet and talk with you about Holy Baptism. Baptisms are scheduled on various Sundays during the year.
